JOB TITLE: Accounting and Administrative Specialist LOCATION: Feedyard REPORTS TO: General Manager, Feedyard FLSA STATUS: Salaried, Non-Exempt FUNCTION: Performs a variety of accounting and administrative support tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Performs the following cattle accounting specialist duties as assigned: Maintains cattle system by: checking new cattle into system, updating files/records, and generating closeouts.
Issues payment for cattle received within specified timeframe.
Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Ensures receipt of funds for cattle shipped by analyzing scale tickets and matching amounts.
Prepares cattle reports by collecting, summarizing, and organizing information.
Performs the following commodity accounting specialist duties as assigned: Weighs incoming commodity trucks by operating scale head and printer.
Maintains commodity records by collecting, entering, and filing documents.
Prepares commodity reports by collecting information.
Schedules incoming commodity trucks by contacting contractors and communicating quantities needed and coordinating receiving dates.
Runs weekly settlement and prepares commodity payments by verifying documentation.
Coordinates and oversees cafeteria (where applicable), and custodial employees.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.
Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
Complies with Federal, State, GAAP, and local financial legal requirements.
Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Assists in the implementation of goals, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, and accounting.
Maintains work-comp and personnel records by enforcing filing/documentation systems.
Orients new hires by ensuring completion of new hire paperwork and communicating feed yard policies, practices, and benefits.
Serves as human resources coordinator for special events such as open enrollment and other employment related programs as assigned.
Forwards pay data to Corporate Payroll Dept by collecting, and compiling feedlot time sheets, pay adjustments.
Works in other capacities when an employee is absent or as necessary; learns skills necessary for working in each specialist position.
Ordering of office supplies and other administrative needs upon request.
Prepares invoices by calculating or computing billing amounts.
Performs data entry by compiling, entering and updating information.
Other duties may be assigned.
Complies with all applicable safety rules and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience High school degree or equivalent required, 2-year college degree preferred Competent with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, & Outlook) Possess a general knowledge of accounting and general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices and payments Must have exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to productively work in a high volume, fast-paced environment independently, or within a team Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required Ability to identify and propose solutions to problems Must be highly motivated, self-directed, proactive, and have the ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints with a positive attitude PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Office work will include, but are not limited to: Reaching, bending and sitting for a prolonged period of time at a work station or desk operating and viewing systems, documents, and calculator.
