Job Summary This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate.
Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

** NATURE OF WORK Provides year-round educational and related instruction to youth at the Juvenile Court's alternative high school and/or juvenile detention center.
Example of Work (Illustrative Only) Analyzes and reviews state-mandated curriculum; prepares lesson plans and related materials in area of teaching assignment; develops plans focused on identifying and meeting individual and/or group needs and abilities; identifies, assesses, selects and provides appropriate learning tools a classroom environment; identifies, arranges for and schedules guest speakers; plans and presents lectures and classroom instruction; arranges for and oversees the use of appropriate visual aids, technology, supporting materials and other items used in the teaching process; receives and reviews class assignments; awards grades and credit; works in groups and one-on-one to provide education and training; works with parents, teachers, administrators, school counselors, probation officers and other court staff; maintains records and files of progress, activities, grades and other related information; reviews curriculum and recommends changes to enhance effectiveness; participates in staff meetings, professional development and court-related training; represents the program in public and court-related areas; serves on and works with school and/or court committees; promotes school and court programs and program activities within the community; performs other functions as assigned.
Experience and Education Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university, with secondary teaching certification in a subject taught in high schools in Arizona; must be at least 21 years of age.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS PREFERRED: Highly Qualified in subject area to be taught; a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth in an alternative school setting.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification requires the applicant to pass criminal background checks; must possess a current/valid Arizona Class One Fingerprint Card at time of application; a valid Arizona State driver's license is required; employees in this classification must maintain all required certifications; understands and promotes the believing, connecting and time traveling concepts of the Kids at Hope philosophy; demonstrates commitment to the Juvenile Court's strategic plan, mission statement and departmental goals; the above information is not to be considered a complete statement of additional requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a standard school/office environment and/or juvenile detention center.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: State of Arizona Department of Education rules, policies and procedures; Arizona state-mandated curriculum; basic principles and practices of teaching and instructing youth in an alternative high school and/or juvenile detention center; basic principles and practices of curriculum development, lesson planning and delivery of instruction; evidence based practices in behavior management, community resources and services; adolescent development; basic legal terminology and functions of the court, as necessary.
Skills in: Techniques in working with youth in an alternative high school and/or juvenile detention center; evidence based practices in the delivery of instruction; communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing; operation of computer hardware and software for instructional and business purposes; use of copier, fax machine and other available instructional technology.
Ability to: Work in a school/office environment and/or juvenile detention center; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, co-workers, students and their families, the court and the public; maintaining order and discipline in the classroom; oral and written communication (move to ability); evaluate and research in area of teaching specialty; provide individual and group instruction and academic counseling; learn and adhere to applicable State of Arizona statutes, rules, administrative orders, operational policies and procedures, Federal rules and requirements; learn and adhere to Superior Court policies and procedures.

Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) or HDHP-HSA with Wellness Incentive.
HDHP-HSA Wellness Incentive for Employee Only option can receives upto $240.
00 annual contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card.
Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan.
The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
