Job Description Purpose Statement The job of AVID Site Coordinator was established for the purpose/s of working with the District APIP Director, the principal, and the counselors in ensuring both that the AVID elective are fully supported and that AVID increase curriculum rigor school-wide.
This job reports to APIP Project Director, Site Principal Essential Functions Acts as liaison between teacher, counselor, site team, principal and district director for the purpose of sharing information between the site Principal and community.
Assists in recruiting, training and scheduling tutors for the purpose of ensuring quality instruction for students.
Collaborates with different sites and grade levels for the purpose of articulating the program.
Ensures vertical articulation of the AVID elective curriculum for the purpose of interpreting the goal of the program.
Organizes all AVID activities, such as field trips, guest speakers, parent meetings, banquets, fund raisers, and publicity for the purpose of maintaining efficiency and quality of events as scheduled.
Organizes student recruitment efforts and facilitates selection process for the purpose of building a healthy program population.
Provides leadership for the purpose of developing and maintaining an active site team.
Other Functions Develops a “family” attitude among all AVID students and teachers for the purpose of establishing bonds and creating unification among participants of the program.
Facilitates data collection for the purpose of providing valuable statistics.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: developing support for programs.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: none specified.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.
Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment.
Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, working with multiple projects and the ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions related to compliance.
Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget.

Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
