Job Summary
This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate.
Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
NATURE OF WORK Under general supervision, performs work of considerable difficulty in coordinating, prioritizing, scheduling preventative maintenance (PM) repairs, clerical and customer service; performs manual work functions associated with writing service orders for vehicle and equipment maintenance and/or service; performs work functions associated with Fleet Management and maintenance of automotive and mechanical equipment.
Example of Work (Illustrative Only) Performs clerical and customer service work functions, associated with providing customers with Fleet Services, coordinates services on PM schedules, performs analysis to assist customers with problems or questions concerning vehicle maintenance and repairs, reviews work orders for accuracy, making corrections when necessary, processing related documentation and performing data entry; creates repair orders from vehicle and equipment defect reports and from external customer contacts; coordinates, initial inquiry calls, requests for tows, dispatch of service trucks, vehicle loaner requests and updates PM schedule calendar; diagnoses and prioritizes problems with regards to safety and/or out of service criteria; prioritizes the work repair order and communicates the information to the Fleet Superintendent and/or Public Works Manager-Fleet Services; assists customers from time of delivery through completion of work.

Inform customers of status and/or coordination of equipment repairs and maintenance; records the appropriate information about the unit/vehicle into fleet management software and ensures PM schedules are up to date; tracks vehicle and equipment warranty status and coordinates warranty repairs when required; creates and distributes reports related to fleet management, processes related documentation and performs accurate data entry; estimates downtime of vehicles and equipment based on shop workload and communicates information to the customer; assists Fleet Superintendent and/or Public Works Manager-Fleet Services with input of complete documentation into fleet management software, including asset information, maintenance performed, schedules and other fleet information, as required; assists Fleet Superintendent and/or Public Works Manager-Fleet Services with scheduling and coordination of outside services, repairs and obtains repair estimates; communicates with Fleet Superintendent and/or Public Works Manager-Fleet Services on work orders and observes workflow progress in the shop to ensure the work is completed to specified requirements in a timely manner; frequently meets with Fleet Superintendent and Public Works Manager-Fleet Services to discuss priorities, pending work orders, and areas of concern; assists by making preliminary diagnoses of problems, identifies repairs needed, and estimates times needed to complete repairs; assists with interpretation of work orders and instructions to mechanics; works closely with Parts Specialist to ensure parts are available; responsible for scheduling and monitoring all work performed by vendors; assists Fleet Superintendent with preventive maintenance, routine maintenance, and repair line input on work orders, as needed or requested; assists Fleet Superintendent to ensure efficient operation and productivity within the Fleet Services Division by reviewing repair times prior to closing of work orders; reviews paperless shop to monitor technicians’ work flow; assists Fleet Superintendent and Parts Specialist with monitoring parts activities on work orders; conducts customer survey follow-ups and reports results to the Fleet Superintendent and/or Public Works Manager-Fleet Services; serves as acting lead in the absence of the Fleet Superintendent; assists Fleet Superintendent with administration and management of telematics devices and software.
Provides telematics related reports, as requested, to the Fleet Superintendent/Public Works Manager-Fleet Services.
Assists Fleet Superintendent/Public Works Manager-Fleet Services with fuel management activities; monitors and inputs fuel transactions from internal and external fuel tracking systems; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of recent experience in maintenance administration of automotive and heavy equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license; requires successful completion of a background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; methods, practices, materials, precision instruments and tools used in automotive and equipment maintenance; data entry and verification procedures; hydraulic, electrical, power train, refrigeration, and engines for various types of vehicles and equipment; fleet management software; vehicle preventative maintenance scheduling and programs Skill in: Office practices and procedures with the ability to review or check the work of others to ensure conformance to department standards; providing effective customer-oriented service; creating and maintaining accurate repair and maintenance records on vehicles and equipment; interpreting technical manuals and related diagrams; operating general office equipment and database systems, such as preparing computerized spreadsheets; following written and verbal instructions.
Ability to: Work in varying extreme weather conditions; be exposed to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil, grease and hazardous materials; lift of 25-50 pounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, other departments and the public; stand and bend.
